Come, walk in Dickens footsteps, see the buildings that were in Cobourg in 1842, dressed in their Christmas finest, marvel at the lights in Victoria Park, see the skaters glide by on the outdoor rink, return by the harbour. DECEMBER 7, 8 & 9, 2023 Charles Dickens visited Cobourg on May 6, 1842, as part of his North American tour. While his steamer was loading fuel and flour barrels in the Cobourg harbour, he had time to walk downtown Cobourg. He described the place as a “cheerful thriving little town.”
