Sunday, January 5th Les AMIS concert will feature a ‘FAMILY TRIO.’ Moscow born pianist Ellen Annor-Adjei will be accompanying her daughter, soprano Daniella Pyne and her son violinist Evan Pyne, in a program of works by Johannes Brahms, Liszt, Gounod and Michael Pepa.
Rival Beauties, Haiku Songs, by Pepa will be performed by the trio as a birthday present to Michael, who will be celebrating his 86th on the day of the concert. The audience is invited to mingle with the performers and to share a cheer after the performance.
During her participation in InterHarmony International Music Festival, Daniela had performed in opera scenes from La Bohème (Mimi ), The Coronation of Poppea and The Tales of Hoffman ( Hoffman). Her most recent operatic role was as The Magic Flute’s Papagena at the Trentino music festival located outside of Verona. Daniela has finished her 3rd year at The New England Conservatory studying in the studio of Maryann McCormick studio.
Since his concert debut at age 8 at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Evan has been recognized as a prizewinner of many national and international competitions including second prize of the 2018 “Noche en Madrid” music competition in Spain, first prize of the 2018 Canadian Music Competition in Montreal and third prize at the Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition in Budapest in 2019. Evan was a finalist of the 2020 International Grumiaux competition for young artist in Brussels, and the First prize winner of the 2021 Ontario Music Festivals Association’s provincial competition and the second prize winner of the 2021 Orchestre Metropolitan’s OMNI competition in Montreal.
Ellen Annor-Adjei, a proud matriarch of an extraordinary musical family, was born in Moscow into a family of mixed African and Russian ancestry. Brought up in Moscow Annor-Adjei began her musical journey at a young age, demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication to the piano. She received her formal training at prestigious institution of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, honing her skills under the guidance of renowned teachers: Alexander Bakulov , Boris Shatskes and Galina Yegiazarova.
