Shoshana Telner

Canadian pianist Shoshana Telner has performed as soloist and chamber musician across Canada and abroad. She made her solo orchestral debut with the National Arts Center Orchestra at the age of 16, and has since performed with orchestras including the Quebec Symphony, The National Academy Orchestra, and the Boston Classical Orchestra. Shoshana received a Bachelor's degree on full scholarship from Boston University, a Master's degree from the Juilliard School in New York, and a Doctorate in performance from McGill University.

Shoshana's recordings include solo works of Canadian composer Colin Mack (Cansona Arts Media), the six Bach Keyboard Partitas (Centaur Records), the Grieg violin/piano sonatas (Chestnut Hall Music), and selected Mozart Sonatas and Sonatinas (The Mozart Effect). Her latest recording, 'Selected Solo Works of Robert Schumann', was released on Centaur Records in the Spring of 2022.

She has taught at Wilfrid Laurier and York Universities, and currently teaches at McMaster University. Shoshana frequently gives masterclasses, adjudicates competitions, and examines for the Royal Conservatory of Music. Shoshana has been awarded honors at the CMC International Stepping Stone Competition, the Esther Honens International Piano Competition and the Hilton Head International Piano Competition.

NOTE: Les AMIS hopes that those of you who have already purchased a ticket will attend Shoshana’s recital. However, if you are unable to do so, you may request a refund OR you may use your ticket for any future Les AMIS event.

For lovers of Goldberg Variations, I am pleased to announce that it will be on the Les AMIS program later in the season. Exceptional Czech pianist, Radka Hanakova, will be coming to Cobourg from Prague, Czech Republic, courtesy of Joseph Macerollo, U of T Professor and Les AMIS Artistic advisor.

Macerollo wrote, “l advised a very talented concert pianist for her doctoral dissertation on Oskar Morawetz at U of T last year. She can perform Bach’s Goldberg Variations complete from memory. She really is exceptional.”

-Michael Pepa, Founding Artistic Director of Les AMIS
